TEAR TROUGHS

The hollow ‘valley’ that forms between the lower eyelid and the face is called the tear trough. This slopes from the inner corner of the eye down towards the cheek hollow. Some people are born with deep eye sockets, therefore giving the appearance of dark circles under the eyes as well as a ‘tired’ look.

Dermal fillers are an ideal treatment for the tear trough area. They can gently inflate the area under the eye to either soften the hollowing and/or lessen the darkness by thickening up the layers between the underlying muscle and the thin skin overlying the muscle.

Dermal fillers can also smooth the sharp demarcation between the bulging bag under the eye and the adjoining skin, by softening the junction between the two areas.
